Analysis Review: Hierarchy levels

Comments

There are almost always subordinates. So a subordinate of peacock would be the distinction between:

Indian Peafowl, Pavo cristatus (Asiatic)Green Peafowl, Pavo muticus (Asiatic)And the Green Peafowl (aka Peacock) actually has subordinate species:

P. m. muticus (nominate), P. m. imperator and P. m. spicifer

But you've got the idea with the hierarchies, especially the 'basic' level. When you hear shark, you might not know exactly what type of shark is being referred to, but you've got enough specific data to imagine the general creature, as opposed to when you hear 'fish'.

I like your post. You could put the Superordinate for dog as Mammal instead of lexical gap. Mammals would be on the same level as birds and fish. I think a lexical gap would be a mixed breed after the basic level of dog.
